Chevy Traverse commercial rips off "Porn for Women"



During the Olympics last night, just before the Men's 4 x 100 Medley, Chevrolet ran a commercial for the 2009 Traverse. The commercial, I must say, is a complete rip-off of Chronicle Books' "Porn for Women" series. Check out the books for yourself and compare it to the commercial (which I'll post as soon as I can find it).

Basically, the ad shows a very hot looking guy (sans shirt) ironing a dress while making reservations for his 6-month anniversary with his wife or girlfriend. Then it flashes to the SUV and the voiceover tells how the vehicle is full of features that will be greatly appreciated. Cut back to the guy again who is doing more housework: cleaning the toilet and still shirtless.

Great work, ad execs. Steal your best ideas from independent publishers. Madison Avenue is moribund.

You know whats funny...the MEN don't get it. We have our turn. How many countless times must we watch hot women and commercials geared towards men? Here is a commercial which is simple and short. A hot guy, shirtless, ironing. A song is playing "you're beautiful" while he is talking sweetly on the phone. The end he is cleaning the toilets. Call me crazy but I not only laughed because it was hysterical to watch my husband go "huh?" but because it was everything that most housewives would dream. A hot man, cleaning and doing "our" duties for a change! That alone is rare. I LOVED it. Thanks, Chevy!!!!!

One last thing....It's hard to find the commercial. It's only 30 seconds (I think) but I couldn't find it anywhere on youtube, yahoo, google etc. I hope you post it when you find it!

WTF? Have you stopped to look at this ad beyond a "hot" guy ironing? It makes absolutely no sense! "It's our 6 month anniversary," and he's ironing a child's dress and scrubbing a toilet. This is the worst ad I've seen in a long time.

I still have this on TiVo - I'll see if I can rip it tonight. After the commercial, I also say, "huh?". But then quickly replayed it and hit pause when the full chest shot came up. YUM-E!

I loved that commercial from the start... and it is sad that men don't get, because they could take a few hints from it. Want your woman turned on? Help around the house. Very sexy, trust me.
