Is this what 40 looks like?

I went to high school with these folks. They were high school sweethearts, got married and, apparently, stayed that way. Shocking!! Congrats to them.

But, and be honest with me here, do they look like my generational peers? Did all my time in the diffuse Seattle sunlight save me years of wrinkles and skin damage? Not that these two look terrible. I think they look happy and healthy. But they look 40 to me. And I'll be 40 tomorrow, but I don't think I look 40 (apart from the gray hair). Good lord, could this post be more self-centered and whiny? But have people heard of sunscreen and skin cream?!!!

No, they do NOT look like your peers. My mom also remarked the other day that children "age" you - she was joking, but perhaps there's something to it.

At any rate, I'd write more but I'm packing my bags to move to Seattle. j/k.

Aww, thanks. Now, after my trip to sunny Kona, all this may change. Do they make SPF 250?

Well - I personally use baby sunblock that's spf 50, but Neutrogena actually markets an SPF 80. There's an ingredient in european sunscreen called Mexoryl SX. Laroche Posay (subsidiary of L'Oreal) makes an american version, but it' only SPF 15. Supposedly that ingredient blocks UVA more effectively.

...yes, I read about sunscreen a lot. They also make hats out of SPF fabric now too.

Happy Birthday Todd! Wait a minute... 40? Get my smellin' salts! We are both so old! Your Metamucil, walker and support socks are in the mail. Is it cold or is it just me? Seriously, don't let 40 bother you... What is your name again? :)

Many mahalos to you all for the great birthday wishes. After today, I will no longer be aging (as long as the photoshop holds up).
