It's Not "Gay Marriage," It's Just Marriage

Two consenting adults should have the right to decide the course of their lives without interference from the government or religious institutions. It should not matter if they are gay or straight, black or white, Catholic or Jew. And, frankly, it should not be any of your business.

Want to get married? Then you better start asking for permission now. If you could ask permission from one person every ten seconds, it would take you over 82 years to ask the 260 million people in this commercial. Call me crazy, but I don't think I should have to request my fundamental rights. And, if I do, what then is the value of this so-called human right? Does the value vary with the shifting moods of the body politic? Or is it fixed and universally recognized as having value?

I have to admit that I'm afraid to hear the answer from some people. This Prop 8 thing is going to be the end of me. I just don't know whom to trust anymore.
